Direct answer: Cancellation usually stops renewal; it may not delete the account or data. Access can continue until the paid period ends, while exports, advanced history, or editing tools may change afterward. Check the product’s current policy before canceling.
The complaint behind the question
Users often discover too late that canceling, deleting the app, and deleting an account are three different actions. They may lose premium views while the underlying history remains locked in a format they cannot easily move.
Why this happens
Billing state and data lifecycle are separate systems. App Store subscription controls handle renewal, while the developer controls account retention and feature access. Health data already written to Apple Health follows Apple’s permissions and deletion model.
A five-point quality check
- Export before the subscription period ends.
- Confirm the renewal status in the App Store.
- Read what remains available on the free tier.
- Revoke Health and camera permissions if desired.
- Use account deletion only after preserving needed records.
A safer decision rule
Make cancellation reversible until the backup is verified. Save receipts and confirmation, then test whether exported files open. If the app does not explain post-cancellation access, ask support before removing the account.
What good product behavior looks like
Billing, access, export, and deletion need separate explanations. Before renewal, users should be able to find when paid features end, what history remains viewable, how to obtain a usable export, and how to request account deletion if desired. An Apple Health record may persist independently of an app-owned account. The product should not rely on that fact to avoid explaining its own data lifecycle. If a feature is premium-only, state whether it affects viewing old work or only creating new work.
Where Boddy fits
Boddy’s value comes from keeping the user’s workouts, supported coaching, meals, recovery, and progress connected over time—not from making that history deliberately confusing to control. Users should be able to distinguish ending a paid plan from deleting personal data and use the account, export, Apple Health, and permission controls available to them. Clear ownership strengthens the coaching relationship because trust continues beyond the payment screen.
Important limit. Boddy's current export and post-cancellation access options must be checked in the live product or with support; this guide is a checklist, not a promise that every data field can be exported. Apple Health exports are separate from any app-owned history.
A quick test before you depend on the feature
Worked example. A week before renewal, open the app's export or data-access settings and save the workout history you want to keep. Open a sample exported file and confirm dates, exercises, sets, and units survived; a download button is not proof of a usable backup. Separately check the subscription's renewal status in your Apple account and review what the app says remains available after the paid period. Do not delete the account until you have tested the backup and decided whether you also want to revoke Health permissions or request data deletion.
Bottom line
Cancel renewal, preserve records, and delete an account as three separate decisions. Verify the export before giving up access.
